Cannot decide between the train or bus? The plane? The price? No need to go further, you are at the right place!
We present in detail in this section the different transportations way to come to Samui or leave.
Follow the guide!
Note that in Thailand, transport is very well organized and very easy to use, you will only get the ticket to the destination of your dreams and let you guide!
Economical and practical
You can take the bus from the bus station to the south of Thailand, Saithai.
This is the most economical means of transportation (except VIP), fast enough, and you still have to say, relatively convenient.
There are several types of bus, local (non-conditioning, open windows), and the air-conditioned VIP.
The bus, locally
It stops almost every time a person reaches the edge of the road, no air conditioning, the windows open but you will be able to make friendly contact with the local population, and you really are traveling for a ridiculous price.
For the second, it could still be separated into two categories:
1) for "farang" (= the white man ...)
2) for Thai
For "farang" ticket bought on Khao San Road (Bangkok) or an agency bus you take a tourist place, tourist place to another, generally well organized with connections boats.
For Thai conditioning, one we recommend, nice bus ticket to take out (come at least 1 hour in advance) in the bus stations.
They travel (almost) every night. You leave Bangkok between 17 h 30 and 20 h 00 and the trip takes usually 10 to 12 hours until Suratthani, about 650 kilometers from Bangkok.
In every bus, you pass a video (in Thai or English or both Thai tv) for 2 hours after your departure.
All stop one or more times during the trip in the types of "rest stops" premises at night, the lights are lit, and everyone standing ... to eat and to go to the bathroom. VIP buses have their toilets in general.
The VIP ("very important person")
Very comfortable, 24 seats, folding seats way bed (or almost) of legroom, although brief, but as much as a sleeper train ticket, you see.
"Ferry, express boat or speed boat?"
An hour and a half about crossing to Samui, accommodating vehicles, small snack inside, full of seating, large dock for sunbathing and even more difficult, a cabin "air conditioning".
"The express boat"
Long boat close enough to the company Songserm full of backpackers but has its charm and all transfers are easy. When the sea is rough, "waltz" a bit all over the place ...
Fast connections between the islands with good boats Koh Samui, Koh Pha-Ngan, Koh Tao and onto the mainland Chumphon competitor Lomprayah.
The company performs Lomprayah crossings from Koh Samui or Chumphon to Koh Tao and Koh Pha-Ngan. They have very fast and comfortable catamaran style boats.
The night boat (Night Boat)
The first crossing startup to get to the islands, local color, but very very nice, "beds" available to travelers.
The trip lasts from 5 am to 5: 30 pm (but you can sleep ...). Starting in the late afternoon.
The speed boat, rapid (outboard)
Many used to Koh Tao links on various islands around or different day tours and some diving schools. Very fast (Koh Tao, Koh Pha-Ngan = 45 minutes, normal boat = 2 hours), quite expensive, but the "feeling" is there!
